History
Serving Savory Southern Classics Since 1977
Our story began in 1977 when Bojangles introduced its iconic Southern flavors to biscuit and chicken lovers in Charlotte, North Carolina. Just a few years later, in the spring of 1980, Cameron McRae acquired the franchise from founders Jack Z. Fulk, Sr. and Richard Thomas, turning Tands, Inc. into an independent franchisee. On July 25, 1980, Tands, Inc. proudly opened its first Bojangles location on Vernon Avenue in Kinston, making it the 14th unit in the Bojangles system.
Today, Tands, Inc. proudly holds the rights to 30 counties in Eastern North Carolina and 21 counties and independent municipalities in the Richmond, Virginia area. With 72 Bojangles restaurants throughout these regions, we remain committed to delivering delicious Southern comfort classics to our neighbors and surrounding communities—and we look forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come.
