Tands, Inc. was formed in the spring of 1980 as an independent franchisee for Bojangles'. At that time, Cameron McRae purchased the franchise from the founders of Bojangles', Jack Z. Fulk, Sr. and Richard Thomas. The Bojangles' system celebrated the completion of its fourteenth unit when Tands, Inc. opened its first restaurant on July 25, 1980 at 400 West Vernon Avenue in Kinston, NC. Subsequent openings include other Kinston locations, as well as restaurants in Greenville, Havelock, Goldsboro, New Bern, Morehead City, Wilson, Washington, Jacksonville, Warsaw, Rocky Mount, Nashville, Clinton, Newport, Tarboro, Snow Hill, Williamston, Elizabeth City, Plymouth, and Ayden. Today Tands, Inc. holds the franchise rights to a thirty-one county territory in North Carolina.
